The Influence of Mobile Apps on Wine Purchases

Popular mobile wine app, Hello Vino and San Francisco-based digital marketing consultancy, Lotus Growth released a report earlier this month entitled, "The Influence of Mobile Apps on Wine Purchases." The report discussed the influence of mobile wine apps on consumer purchases. Forbes magazine summed up the main takeaways, which were as follows:


• 86.7% of consumers will recommend the promoted winery or brand to others.
• Each of those consumers will recommend the brand to 3.9 people on average.
• 88.3% of consumers will purchase the same winery or brand again within the next six months.
• 63.4% of consumers were not aware of the winery or brand prior to engagement in the app.

Rioja Sales Grew by Five Million Bottles in 2014

Rioja wine followed the positive trend started in 2013. According to the final balance announced by the Control Board, sales grew by five million bottles in 2014, placing the wine region at a new all-time record with a total of 281 million litres. Exports continued driving sales, although at a somewhat slower pace (+3.6%) than in previous years. Barrel-aged wines and whites concentrated all of the growth (+2.66% and +13.67% respectively).
