    Ask Ana header

    Hi Ana,

What is springtime like in Rioja and what are some good Rioja choices for this time of year?
    -- Sally in Bangor, Maine

A very relevant question Sally! Rioja is a region with four very distinctive seasons that tend to be milder than the northeast. It is not only Spring Break but “Bud Break” in Rioja when vines are budding and spring spirits are blooming. White Asparagus a true delicacy are harvested in early May and served fresh from the local fields with typical delicious Riojan wine and fare. And when I think of spring, I look for Rioja Rosados, ranging from full-bodied bright cherry red choices to delicate provence style blends. During this time, I also stock up on “fruit forward” Crianzas; they pair perfectly with tomato and peppered-based salsas, sauces and grilled skewered creations.

Send us an e-mail with your question to askana@riojacommunity.com and you may see it in the next newsletter!
