Rioja Finale Press Release
MORE THAN 10 MILLION VIEWERS WITNESSED THE BEAUTY OF RIOJA ON THE FINALE OF “THE BACHELORETTE” Rioja and its beautiful landscapes, passionate people, breathtaking wineries, and show-stopping architecture concluded season 13 of ABC’s, The Bachelorette. The season featured the all-American girl, Rachel Lindsay, a lawyer from Dallas, TX. Rachel and the final few men set off on a journey to find love in Rioja. After several adventures, from a helicopter ride to San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, to horseback riding through the rolling vineyards, Rioja was truly visualized as one of the most romantic places in the world. The dramatic final rose ceremony took place at the impeccable setting of Contino, before Rachel said “yes” to her future husband. The last contestant standing, Bryan Abasolo, got on one knee and proposed to Rachel with the stunning backdrop of the San Vicente de la Sonsierra Castle. The final episode of The Bachelorette, which aired on August 7, had more than ten million viewers. Combined with the previous week’s episode, over 18-million people witnessed Rachel’s journey through Rioja. With such an incredible viewership, The Bachelorette is the undisputed leader among American prime time television. By partnering with the Bachelorette, the image and perception of Rioja has been elevated significantly, making the region more widely known by viewers in the U.S. With about ten-million liters per year, the U.S. is third largest market for Rioja with imports. The collaboration with the ABC franchise successfully highlighted the rich history and beauty of Rioja, reinforcing the wine tourism strategy that is being carried out by the Rioja Qualified Denomination of Origin in the USA. “The Bachelorette targets a unique audience that we haven’t reached before. The majority of Bachelorette viewers are highly educated women and fittingly, women account for 57% of all wine consumers, making the value of this partnership unquestionable. Following the airing of the episodes, we hope that American viewers keep Rioja in mind when looking for the perfect wine or their next romantic destination,” said Ricardo Aguiriano, Marketing Director of the Regulatory Board DOCa Rioja.

Curtis Stone’s Maude Will Bring a Taste of Rioja to America
The celebrity chef and team traveled to Spain to find inspiration for Maude's new menu. Curtis Stone’s Maude is in the midst of a reinvention. The restaurant that the celebrity chef opened in Beverly Hills in 2014 made its mark on the LA food scene with an ambitious concept. It would celebrate a single ingredient each month, incorporating that item into a 10-course tasting menu. One month you could be there eating a menu where plums were in every dish, and the next it would be avocado.

Sure, Barcelona and Madrid have stuff like airports, world-class museums, famous sports teams, and restaurants that will serve you food before 9pm. But Spain's a big country, and there's plenty to see outside those two metropoles --even if most of it's closed all afternoon for siesta. From the white towns of Andalucia to the sandy shores of the Costa Brava, here are the most beautiful overlooked places in Spain, all worthwhile destinations in their own right.

Vogue.com - 5 Places to Leaf-Peep This Fall That Are Not in New England
When it comes to the quintessential autumnal practice of leaf-peeping, Maine, New Hampshire, Connecticut, and the rest of New England seem to get all the attention. But with warmer-than-average temps across much of the Northeast this past September, it seems that even at peek, the vibrant colors we normally expect to see this time of year may not actually happen. “We are definitely seeing more muted colors this year,” Cornell University horticulture professor Nina Bassuk recently said. This weekend in New York state may be the best time to see the burnt hues at all.
