The Control Board of the D.O. Ca. Rioja has published its 2014 annual report, a publication that aims to be a useful source of information for those interested in knowing the current state of things in the D.O. Ca. Rioja as a whole, as well as the activities of the Control Board. All this information comprises a valuable compendium that makes it a useful reference work.
The 2014 report of the Control Board describes the composition and functioning of the institution’s management and control bodies, a summary of the most important decisions made by the Plenary and details on the use of the financial resources that fund the Board.
The 2014 Report summarises the promotional activities undertaken by the Control Board Marketing and Communications Department during the year in the seven countries (Spain, USA, UK, Germany, Switzerland, China and Mexico) where the eight-million-euro budget has focused.
The description of the activities of the Control Board Technical Service in controlling the quality, origin and ageing of wines, is completed with a description of the growth cycle, the rating process and the 2014 harvest production and processing statistics.
The report contains an interesting statistical summary of the most significant aspects of Rioja viticulture (vineyard surface area by town, varieties, age of the vineyards and size of plots, stocks of wine per vintage, winery statistics, etc..), as well as 2014 domestic and foreign sales figures.
